❓ how do we react when someone around us fails?
❓ how do we react when an employee/manager we mentor does not apply learning?
❓ how quickly are we going to express our disappointment?
"I told him it was nice, but it's just a start" a manager I accompanied told me, when I shared a little success of his apprentice.
"The gap is huge and he has a long way to go" he continued to share with me what he told his employee.
"The gap is indeed quite a bit," I replied. "but he probably doesn't have much of a chance to narrow it down, if that's what he hears from you."
Around us there are people in the process of growing, developing, for the job.
✔ they're new to the job.
✔ or unscuessed,
✔ or there is a gap between our current functioning and our expectations.
Focusing on the gap, lacking (the in) is harmful and harms the chances of change.
why? Because these are statements that are often discouraging, discouraging.
Even if they are real, they do not promote or generate positive momentum.
(By the way, is it different in relation to children?)
So did you see a change? Did an employee do anything new? Better? A little different?
👈 don't wait, don't hesitate. Empower the hase! Give positive feedback. 👉
Trust them. They will strive to persevere and sometimes *only* thanks to your positive feedback.
This year we all have a choice, remember?
To intensify the inequal, or to develop a new habit - to intensify the has, in others!
